We are a small indie business based on Keynsham High Street, serving Mexican street food made from scratch and locally sourced!

We serve contemporary cuisine rooted in Mexican culture. Inspired by the Pacific coasts’ culinary traditions, while celebrating seasonal Californian produce.

Founded by Jesse Gomez with partner/chef Jose Acevedo, Cocinas y Calaveras restaurant group takes pride in offering a traditional yet contemporary experience that has paved the way for elevated Mexican cuisine that is accessible to everyone.

The project would be named “Sonoratown” which was the name of a small community of Mexican immigrants who settled in the area we now know as Chinatown, after the Gold Rush in 1850. The restaurant idea was simple: serve tacos in the style of San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora a part of Northern Mexico known for having the most delicious carne asada—cooked over mesquite wood fire—and also for truly excellent handmade flour tortillas.

We created a simple menu, one which reminded us of home and how mom spent her afternoons. It’s that same feeling that we try to put into every bite—because simply put, it’s just how we ate.

For over 60 years, we’ve been bringing recipes from our family kitchen to the tables of El Tepeyac Café. The menu may change over time, but the quality remains the same.

When it comes to family dining there is no better place than Casa Sanchez. With unique family recipes that have been passed down through generations, we take pride in providing an authentic and traditional experience.

Hermanito is all about family and supporting those we love. These are some of those that we are lucky enough to call our hermanos, and have the honor of working with at our beloved Hermanito. We’re all in this together, and we love you like you like a brother!

Over 40 years ago, Casablanca introduced a new type of Mexican cuisine to the Venice community. Our menu contains many of the traditional Mexican entrées but also lesser known Mexican cuisine including one of our specialties, the Calamari steak, which is pounded into a filet and served with your choice of sauces.
